Alan Gibbons, Department Head of the Education Department teaches ESL (English as a Second Language), Citizenship Preparation, and tutors at Kingdom Life Community Resource Center. He is a certified K-12 and Adult ESL/Bilingual teacher working for the city of New Haven. He has taught for over 18 years in various positions: from third grade to adults; in mathematics, English, citizenship, and job readiness. He has brought his skill and education into Sunday School, factories, community centers, urban, and suburban schools, and language schools at universities in the United States and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Alan speaks English, French, Spanish, and Lingala. He has received the TAPS Award, New Haven Public Schools 2005 and Teacher of the Year, New Haven Adult Education Center, 1996. In addition to a Master in the Art of Teaching (MAT), he has a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. He is a member of KLCC and has been volunteering at the KLCRC since 2004. Other community service includes being a Scout Leader. He is a husband and father of two in a wonderful family.
